来年度にむけて for the next school year

今は学年の進路チーフを任されている。
後期の講習が他の教科でも終わりはじめ、
私の講習も来週終わるところだ。

冬期講習から休み明けの放課後講習に掛けて
ここ何回かずっと模試の過去問に取り組んできた。
難しい文章にどう取り組むか、テクニックではなく、
「文章の読み方」を教えてきた。
1月の模試の自己採点、まずまずの出来のように思う。
自己採点はできる生徒に限って謙虚であるから、
今回は少し成績が良さそうだ。
二極化が進んでいるところが授業担当者として悲しいが、
上位層は確実に勉強している。

希望制の長文読解課題を提案してみた。
7回シリーズで企画したが、40人が申し込みをした。
生徒はこっちを向いている。
生徒は逃げていない。

学年末試験が3月の頭にあるが、
それが終わると3年生0学期講習をするのが、私の勤務校。
進路チーフとしてその原案を作り、時間割を組むのも私の仕事だ。
多くの先生をまとめるのは大変疲れる。
みんないろんな仕事を持っていて、なかなか時間割は組めない。
しかし、うまくやることは必ず生徒のためになる。
生徒に直接かかわる仕事を与えられていることはありがたい。

波に乗りかけている、あるいは頑張りたいと思っている、
そんな生徒達の背中を押せるよう自分の仕事を全うしたい。

I'm in charge of career guidance of the 11th grade.
("career guidance" in Japanese high schools usually means guidance toward higher education)
After-school sessions for Fall Semester are almost done.

Since the winter break session, I have been having students work on mock exams of past years.
I have been teaching not just techniques for examinations but how to read logically.
We have just finished the mock exam in January.
They checked their answers by themselves and they look better than last time (November).
Students with good score tend to be more modest.
Therefore I'm expecting their score to be better.

Students with good scores are study harder and harder, and those with bad scores goes the other way around, which makes me sad as their teacher.
But the former is no doubt earning better and better marks.

We have the final exam at the beginning of March.
Then our school usually starts after school session (Pre-12th grade sessesion).
I'm in charge of making a blueprint of the sessions.
It is tiring to organize schedules for many teachers.
But if I can deal with it well, it will be good for my students.
My duty directly affects students, which I really appreciate.

My students are in a good mood toward studying.
They are not reluctant.
I shall do my best to help them study.
