少し読書し、家庭訪問期間に出来なかった教材作成を少し進め、あとは頭を休めた。
趣味にも少し時間を使ったが、不思議な物で楽しい事をするとまた、より良い仕事のために勉強しようという気力も湧いてくる。仕事をしながら豊かな生活を送る事の大切さを痛感する。
教員は日々生徒に教える。そのネタは時とともに風化し、新しい物を頻繁に仕入れる事が要求される。一度良い教材や学級通信を作っても、1年後にいざ使い回そうと思えば、なかなか納得できない。自分がもしも成長しているのならば、昨年に使ったものなど、最良の教材であるはずがない。生徒にとってより良い指導は刻一刻と変わる。引き出しは豊富にしたい。常に何かを吐き出し続けるのが教師の仕事だとすれば、蓄える時間が必要な事もまた事実だと思う。でなければ私たちは枯渇してしまう。やらねばならない仕事だけに日々追われ、なんとか授業をやってのける教師が、生徒にとって魅力的であるはずがない。世の中を知っていたり、自分だけの世界を持っているからこそ、生徒の知らない世界をちらつかせ、好奇心をくすぐる授業や学級経営が出来るのだと最近は思う。
ここ最近は実技科目化が進む英語で、どのように知的な展開が出来るか、ぼんやりする時間があるときはその事を考えてしまう。今年は幸い学力の優秀なコースの授業も任されている。モチベーションの高い彼らはきっと様々な挑戦についてきてくれるので、なんとか受験にも負けず、相手の気持ちを汲み取り、自分の思いを伝えられる英語力を6年間で養えるような授業を展開したい。
話は戻るが、仕事をしながら豊かな生活を送る事を今年は目標にしたい。職場では自分だから出来る事、自分にしか出来ない事に全力を注げるよう合理化を図り、自分以外に適任者がいる場合には素直にお願いし、できた余力と時間で教師としての自己研鑽を充実させたい。今年は特に、新たな職場でスタートを切ったことと、教員免許更新講習もあるので、勉強する事が求められている。
I didn't have to work today. I'm not in charge of any sport club activities this year, so Sunday is my time. As a child of an office worker, I had expected to have Sunday as my free time before I started to work, but working as a teacher for 8 years, I have begun to appreciate that I have time on Sundays.
I read a book a little, and worked on some lesson plans that I could not finish because of visiting the houses of each student. I could take some rests and spent some time on playing the guitar. I am wondering why I always feel like studying after enjoying something. I cannot help but noticing the importance of living an affluent life.
Teachers are always teaching something. What and how we teach is always changing and we are required that we study and know new things frequently. Even if I made something good in the previous year, I cannot appreciate it now because I an a better teacher than I was last year. What is best for my students is always changing. I would like to have many "hows". If it is teachers' job to give out, it is probably true that teachers really need free time to gain new things or to be updated. If all I do is what I have to do and barely give lessons, I won't be an interesting teacher. I need to be familiar with the society or have something that students will never know by themselves; this will help us to be an attractive teacher.
As a school subject, English is becoming training rather than teaching, but I am looking for the way of teaching English in an interesting way. Fortunately, I am in charge of the advanced course this year, so they, highly-motivated students, will be appropriate to try my new ideas with. I would like them not only to pass the university entrance exams, but also to be capable of feeling the addressee's emotions and telling their own mind in English. This is my 6-year plan.
Going back to the previous agenda, this year I would like to make efforts to change my working style. I need to create time to spend for myself. Therefore, at work I need to trust others more than ever, and try my best on what I should do rather than other coworkers.
